How many times do I hear ‘we get B-doubles in here all the time’!
Unless you live on a B-double route, there are not going to be any trucks that size going near your place!
ACCESS
The S-Line requires an arc of about 20m minimum of clear, solid, relatively level ground to turn around, and the same to turn into a gateway or narrow bend in the road.
It is the consignors’ liability to ensure the pickup and delivery locations offer safe access with consideration to weather and other conditions, and that the pickup and delivery locations can be reached on appropriately-rated roadways (no bridges with 15t load limits, low bridges or low-hanging branches etc). Please check these details. If necessary, have the vendor/buyer do a route-survey, and video record or take a screenshot of any potential hazards.
I ONCE HAD TO REVERSE 6KM OUT OF A LANEWAY BECAUSE THE VENDOR HAD FORGOTTEN THE CAUSEWAY PAST HIS PROPERTY HAD BEEN GOUGED OUT BY THE LAST FLOOD…..HAD TO GET PULLED OUT OF A CREEK BED AFTER A FLASH FLOOD ANOTHER TIME….(PROPERTY OWNER, ONE HOUR EARLIER: ‘YOU’LL HAVE NO TROUBLE’ ! )
LIFTING AND LOADING
Lifting/loading arrangements are the liability of the vendor/buyer/consignor, however:
- Manual ramps with a load capacity of 9t are carried.
- Machines/vehicles with a long chassis and low clearance may require an embankment to raise the angle of the ramps.
- Large caravans or similar vehicles may be lifted onto a tilt-tray and transferred to/from the S-Line, which can be arranged by Bekker Transport (invoiced to you direct).
- Where required, crane/franna lift can be arranged by Bekker Transport (invoiced to you direct).
